Five things noticed from Manchester United training ahead of Wolves clash
Manchester United's players trained hard at Carrington today. Here are five things we noticed from the training session:
All smiles for Pogba
There has been plenty of speculation about the future of Paul Pogba this summer, with the Frenchman keeping the issue open when he said "a question mark remains" following the 4-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday. Reports on the continent have suggested that a move to either Real Madrid or Juventus could be on the cards with the transfer window still open for Spanish and Italian clubs.
But MEN Sport photographers pictured a beaming Pogba doing keepy-uppies and happily joining in training. After a good display in which he notched two assists against Chelsea, it seems Pogba is content enough at United right now.
Maguire popular
Why wouldn't Harry Maguire be popular at United right now? He's arrived as the marquee transfer of the summer and started with an imperious display to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side cruise past Chelsea on debut.
The only potential issue would be if Maguire's arrival had caused discontent among the army of other centre-backs in United's squad — and there are plenty of natives in that position.
But Phil Jones was pictured smiling and hugging Maguire, while Chris Smalling was also captured with a smile on his face. It seems Maguire has brought the feel-good factor to United.
Youngsters are regular fixtures
It's not a new development that Solskjaer wants several of last year's academy stars to feature regularly in his first team squad. But it reflects how the Norwegian is living up to that promise by including the likes of Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong in first team training sessions on a permanent basis.
It will only be a matter of time before he hands opportunities to these youngsters in competitive fixtures, after they impressed on pre-season tour.
