Chelsea player agrees deal with Brighton after snubbing Blues contract offer

Tariq Lamptey has agreed on a deal to join Brighton after snubbing a contract from Chelsea.

In a huge blow for the Blues' manager Frank Lampard, it was claimed that the highly-rated young defender has shocked Chelsea's management by signing for Brighton, according to Goal.

The youngster Lamptey was apparently highly rated by his coach Lampard, but the praise from the boss did not make the young player agree on the new Chelsea offer.

It seems he's been persuaded that a move for his development would be a better option for him as a young star to develop himself and also get more playing time.

This could, in fairness, be a sensible decision for the 19-year-old, with another impressive young right-back also coming through at Stamford Bridge right now in the form of Reece James.

At this young stage in his football career, Lamptey could do with ensuring he plays regularly at a high level, and Brighton is a good place for the young footballers to learn their trade at the moment.

In another blow for CFC, Goal reporter also suggest that it is not good for the west Londoners in their pursuit of Napoli forward Dries Mertens.

Chelsea could really catch-up with a signing before Friday's transfer deadline, and have also been linked with PSG striker Edinson
Cavani.
